~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pond
Design Features
Features in the above pond designs,
provide engineering that is proven in creating eco systems that
work well. Most successful ponds incorporate almost all or more of
the features shown.
Jets benefit surface flow of debris towards
the skimmer
and increase oxygen content for promotion of beneficial bacteria. The skimmer removes most debris from the surface
before it has a chance to settle. Bottom drains pull settled
debris into settling tank and or filtering.
The Filtering system should have mechanical stages for separating
solids. (Pump Basket, etc.) Then the water passing through the
filter is biologically filtered before returning towards the pond.
Ultraviolet
filtering (U.V. Light) when used follows the bio-filter stage
and kills both waterborne Algae and many forms of harmful bacteria.
Moving water is vital to the
overall health of the pond. Water features not only add beauty and
sound, they add oxygen and mild current to the pond. The steeper
pond sides add protection to the fish from predators.
Steeper sides also permit better settling of debris to the bottom for removal and doesn't collect
clutter. No rocks in the bottom permit a cleaner and healthier
pond. The fish swimming near the bottom disturb some of the bottom debris, enabling it another opportunity
to be collected in the bottom drains. So
as you can see, each of the features help complete a good working
design that promotes a healthier environment for keeping fish.
With the right design and right equipment, your far more likely to
always have a clear pond to enjoy. If
your wanting to kick it up a notch and have polished water that
the fish seem to float through, consider adding an Advantage
Glass filter after the bead filter. You WILL be amazed!!! Click
