UV
sterilization is a proven method for controlling waterborne
algae. Combining sterilization with adequate mechanical
filtration and operating the two properly is most effective
in eliminating algae blooms and maintaining clear water.
Practical fish stocking densities and responsible feeding,
along with routine filter and UV sterilizer maintenance play
a big part in achieving a balanced system. Partial water
changes (approximately 5 - 10 percent of the pond volume weekly
with non-chlorinated water) will aid in diluting
nutrients.

The many
advantages of UV sterilization make it a very attractive option for
algae control. First, it is a physical treatment, so it does not change
the water chemistry of the pond. Second, it is very easy to install.
Third, the treatment takes place outside the pond, away from the fish
and plants

Algae can be
either beneficial or detrimental to a pond, depending on the owner’s
view-point. Algae provide nutrients for newly hatched fry, and
indirectly act as a color enhancer for Koi. Unfortunately, algae blooms
prevent viewing the fish – so that sick fish can go undetected for
days or even weeks.

SMART
UV Sterilizers are designed for serious pond keepers who are
concerned with quality and performance. They offer an efficient
3" exposure chamber diameter that maximizes the UV lamp's
output potential. Smart UVs are strong; constructed of heavy-wall
UV resistant plastic, commercially designed for outdoor
applications. Our UVs offer exceptional performance, are extremely
durable, and operate safely in a wet environment. All power
supplies are watertight and positioned on the cord, helping to
protect the transformer from water damage due to quartz sleeve
failure. Available in five sizes suited for ponds up to 17,000
gallons, inlets/outlets with 1.5" unions or 2" socket.
Lifetime warranty against damage to the UV body due to UV
radiation, performance is guaranteed when sized and operated using
our performance recommendations. All UL and cUL listed.

SMART
HO UV Sterilizers demonstrate our ability to combine powerful UV
output performance in a space saving package. Our UVs feature
GPH/T6 high output hard-quartz glass lamps that produce
approximately twice the output watts when compared to standard
low-pressure lamps, offering 13 months of continual operation
until they reach their end of useful life (60 percent efficient).
The high output performance from these GPH/T6 lamps allows us to
increase the UV body diameter to 5", raising the recommended
water flow rate. Designed watertight for outdoor wet environments.
Each exposure chamber is constructed of heavy wall UV resistant
plastic and offers a lifetime warranty against failure of the
plastic due to UV light, performance is guaranteed when sized and
operated using our performance recommendations. SMART HO UVs are
easily maintained, featuring our exclusive easy-to-remove power
assembly that features an on the cord power supply, protecting it
from water damage due to quartz sleeve failure.
